How to apply for Bachelor’s Degrees

Read the admission criteria

Read carefully the general admission criteria and the degree-specific admission criteria available on this page. If you are unsure about your eligibility or about the selection process, please contact Jamk Admission Services.

Apply on Studyinfo.fi

Write down the application period, the deadline to submit the application attachments and the entrance examination dates of your chosen degree programmes. Make sure you have all the necessary attachments available, so you can submit them on time. Participate to entrance examinations.

3.

Accept the study place

Wait for the results of the student selections communicated by e-mail. In case of an admission, accept the study place, enroll as an attending student and pay the possible tuition fee by the set deadline. Follow our instructions on beginning the studies in autumn.

Apply on 8 – 22 January 2025 by 3.00 p.m Finnish time!

You can access the application during the application period on Studyinfo.fi. Carefully read the instructions in the beginning of the application.

You can choose six application options. In the first joint application of the spring you do not have to place the programmes in order of preference on the application. You can be accepted to six different degree programmes, but you can choose only one.

Please notice, that you can submit only one application form. If you submit several, only the latest will be taken into consideration and all others will be deleted.

After submitting the application, you will receive a confirmation email to the address you have given on the application form. In case you need to edit your application, you will find the link to access to your application from the confirmation email. Please make sure that you can access to the same email address you use for submitting the application during the whole student selection process!

Please use your own email address. If you use other person’s email address and they have applied before, the personal information of the other person will transfer to the new application. Please check your email and also your spam email folder regularly.

We strongly recommend you to fill in your own application form, agents are not needed.

Applicant's required state of health or ability to function

When applied to degree programmes in the field of social and health care, the student's state of health and/or ability to function is evaluated during the application process.

So-called SORA legislation applies to education leading to a degree in universities of applied sciences in the field of social services and health care, the humanities and education, sports and maritime studies as well as education leading to a degree in universities in the field of pharmacy, dentistry, medicine, speech–language pathology, teacher education, psychology, social work and art pedagogy. These fields have requirements concerning the safety of minors, patient and customer safety or traffic safety which restrict student admission. In this case, it is required that the health and functional capacity of approved applicants is such that they are able to take part in the practical assignments or training related to the studies.

You can apply if your degree certificate is completed during the spring of applying. In this case, attach a transcript of study records or other certificate provided by the learning institution that states the degree/qualification you are completing to your application (and official translation if needed).

It should also state the scope of the degree and estimated date of graduation.
The certificate should be provided with the official stamp of the educational institution and must be signed and clarified by an educational institution representative including a representative's title.

If you have already graduated, UAS' accept only the final certificates awarded by national and regional bodies granting educational certificates. Various other documents such as "Testimonials", "Statements of Results", or "Result Slips" are not accepted as official certificates.

If you graduate during the spring and apply with International Baccalaureate (IB)/European Baccalaureate (EB) degree, please attach your predicted grades to the online application form by 1 April 2025 by 3:00 p.m. Finnish time or the final grades of Deutsche Internationale Abitur (DIA) degree to the online application form by 30 April 2025 by 3:00 p.m. Finnish time.

Your admission is conditional until the final original degree certificate has been checked at the Student Services in the beginning of studies. The final deadline to present the original final certificates is 31 August 2025.

You need a valid, acceptable identification document to be able to participate in the International UAS Exam. The passport/identity card has to be valid until the date of the exam. The following documents are accepted as a proof of identity with no exceptions:

A passport

Submit the number of your passport to the application form by 29 January 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.
Attach the cover and information pages to your application form by 29 January 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.

A biometric EU/EEA identification card

Submit the number of your EU/EEA identification card to the application form by 29 January 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.
Attach a copy of both sides of the card to your application form by 29 January 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.

If the information you submit is incorrect or you do not submit the required information to the application by the set date, you cannot participate to the exam.

Notice, that also Finnish citizens must submit identification document!

Who can apply?

You can apply with upper secondary school certificate or with a higher education certificate. You can also apply if your secondary school degree certificate is completed during the spring of applying. Read the admission criteria

General entry requirements

Eligibility to apply for higher education studies can be obtained with:

the studies required for graduating from the Finnish upper secondary school and Matriculation Examination (or only the Finnish upper secondary school)
a Finnish vocational qualification, further information at studyinfo.fi
International Baccalaureate (IB) degree, Reifeprüfung (RP) degree, Deutsche Internationale Abitur (DIA) degree or European Baccalaureate (EB) diploma
a Finnish vocational college diploma or higher vocational diploma
foreign degree/qualification which gives eligibility for higher education in the awarding country.
higher education degree (bachelor's level or master's level)

You can apply if your degree certificate is completed during the spring of applying.

To have a chance to be selected, you must submit an English language proficiency certificate by 29 January 2025, 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.

Please notice that the entrance examinations/online course will take place before we have checked your eligibility. It’s possible to participate for the exams/online course even if you are not eligible or you have not attached required documents and thus cannot be admitted as a degree student.

The admission is conditional until the university of applied sciences has checked applicant’s final school certificates. The UAS will cancel the admission if an applicant fails to submit certificates by the specified deadline, or if an applicant has provided false information.

English language requirements

In order to be considered for selection by the International UAS Exam or certificate-based selection, you must submit an English language proficiency certificate or a certificate of your previous studies by 29 January 2025, 3.00 pm Finnish time.

1. English language proficiency certificate:

IELTS Academic: a minimum total score of 6.0 (Test sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking)
TOEFL Academic (iBT): a minimum total score of 60 (Test sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing). Jamk University of Applied Sciences’ TOEFL code is 0719.
Pearson PTE Academic: a minimum total score of 55 (Test sections: Speaking and Writing, Reading, and Listening)
Cambridge English Scale Score: a minimum total score of 169 (Test sections: Reading and Use of English, Writing, Listening, and Speaking)

IELTS Academic UKVI, IELTS Online, PTE Academic Online and TOEFL iBT Home Edition are also accepted.

2. National Certificate of Language Proficiency (YKI) English: Grade 4 or higher on all the subtests (speaking, listening comprehension, writing, and reading comprehension)

3. Higher education degree completed in English in an EU/EEA country, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland, United Kingdom, or the United States, or a doctoral thesis completed in English in any country

4. Upper secondary degree completed in English in an EU/EEA country, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland, United Kingdom, or the United States

5. One of the following grades in the Finnish Matriculation Examination, European Baccalaureate, International Baccalaureate or Reifeprüfung/DIA:

Finnish Matriculation Examination (completed in Finland): English advanced syllabus with a minimum grade C
The whole International Baccalaureate degree completed in English
International Baccalaureate final examination: English A HL/SL or English B HL/SL with a minimum grade 4
European Baccalaureate: at least grade 6.00 in L2-level English
Reifeprüfung/Deutsche Internationale Abitur (DIA) diploma completed in Finland: at least grade 7 in advanced English

6. Applicants graduating in spring 2025:

If an applicant graduates in spring 2025 and it is not possible to obtain a required proof of English language skills during the application period by 29 January 2025 3 p.m. Finnish time, the final required proof of English language skills must be submitted by 10 July at 3 p.m. Finnish time. The possible student selection is conditional until the certificates are verified. If the language requirement is not met, the selection will be revoked.

The exception applies to those completing the following degrees:
- Finnish matriculation examination (completed in Finland)
- International Baccalaureate
- European Baccalaureate
- Reifeprüfung/DIA completed in Finland
- Finnish vocational basic qualification conducted in English

Only the certificates listed above are accepted with no exceptions. Please read more about expiration dates and validity of language proficiency certificates and other important information on UASinfo.fi.

The language test results must be verifiable from the online verification service of the organiser. If the test scores can no longer be verified, the test is not valid.

The TOEFL test cannot be verified after two years.
The IELTS test cannot be verified after three years.

The applicant should make sure that the test results are not too old. If the applicant is unsure and the test results are more than 2 years old, it is advised to retake the test. When taking the language test, the applicant should choose the UAS that uses the International UAS Exam as the recipient of the results. The results must be at least sent to the UAS that is listed highest on the list of targeted study programmes in the application form. The applicant must also attach a scanned/electric copy of the test result to the application for verification purposes, and notify their unique identifier.

English language requirements: Online course (BIT & ICT)

In order to be invited to the online course and to be selected for Business Information Technology and/or Information and Communication Technology, you must submit an English language proficiency certificate or a certificate of your previous studies by 29 January 2025, 3.00 pm Finnish time (UTC+2).

Please note that the English language requirements for Business Information Technology & Information and Communication Technology programmes are slightly different compared to the language requirements of International UAS Exam and certificate-based selection.

English language skills can be proved by the following documents:

1. English language test results*:

IELTS Academic: a minimum total score of 6.0 (Test sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking)
TOEFL Academic (iBT): a minimum total score of 60 (Test sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing). Jamk University of Applied Sciences’ TOEFL code is 0719.

International Baccalaureate final examination: higher level English with a minimum grade 4
European Baccalaureate: at least grade 6.00 in L2-level English

6. Applicants graduating in spring 2025:

If an applicant graduates in spring 2025 and it is not possible to obtain a required proof of English language skills during the application period, they can still be invited to the online course. The final required proof of English language skills must be submitted by 10 July at 15.00 Finnish time. The possible student selection is conditional until the certificates are verified. If the language requirement is not met, the selection will be revoked.

The exception applies to those completing the following degrees:

Discretionary Admission

Jamk uses discretionary admission if your educational qualification does not meet the general entry requirements.

Based on the documents of your prior education and the result of the International UAS Exam/online course, Jamk UAS decides if you are eligible for admission.

1. Submit the online application form on www.studyinfo.fi on 8 - 22 January 2025 by 3.00 p.m. Finnish time (UTC+2).

2. Submit your documents to the online application form by 29 January 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time (UTC+2)

Possible final school certificates (or transcript of records if you are not graduated yet) and official translations of documents, if required.
Submit English language proficiency certificate.
No motivation letter or additional forms are required for Jamk UAS.

3. Participate to entrance examination/online course.

Please notice that the discretionary admission decision can be made also after you have participated for exams/online course.

The instructions mentioned above concern only Jamk UAS. Please notice that other UAS's might require additional forms or information concerning your educational background. Please read carefully the admission criteria of your other application options and contact them, if necessary.

Refugees

If you are a refugee or in a refugee-like situation and you don't have an access to your education qualifications, the UAS' can invite you to the entrance examination.

In this case you must prove the refugee status by a decision made by a competent authority and send a copy of the decision (a decision on asylum or a residence permit granted on the basis of a need for protection) to Admission services by 29 January 2025 by 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.

In addition, please request a Verification of Educational Background form from Admission services in case you do not have your original degree certificates. Fill in the form and return it to all of the UAS's you are applying for.

Please note that you must submit an English language proficiency certificate by the set date.

In Information and Communication Technology & Business Information Technology, one selection queue for students to be selected is on the basis of the points awarded from an online course and interview.

International UAS Exam

International UAS Exam, an online entrance examination, concerns the following degree programmes:

Automation and Robotics
International Business
Nursing
Purchasing and Logistics Engineering
Tourism Management

The International UAS Exam will be held online.

The entrance examination assesses the applicants’ abilities to study in universities of applied sciences.
The entrance examination does not contain any pre-reading materials or pre-tasks.
The applicant must score minimum points in order to be selected.

English language proficiency certificate

In order to be considered for selection by the International UAS Exam, you must submit an English language proficiency certificate by 29 January 2025, 3.00 p.m. Finnish time. Read more from the top of this page (Who can apply? -> English language requirements).

Identification documents

The results of the certificate-based selection will be published by 28 May 2025 at the latest.
If you want to have a chance to be selected by both certificate-based selection and international UAS Exam/online course, you must participate to the exam/online course which is held before the results of the certificate-based selection are published.

Finnish Matriculation examination

This selection method is used in all bachelor's degree programmes in spring 2025.

The certificate-based selection concerns applicants who have completed or will complete during the spring of applying:

the Finnish matriculation examination (in Finland)
International Baccalaureate diploma (IB)
European Baccalaureate diploma (EB)
Reifeprüfung (RP) diploma (in Finland) or
Deutsche Internationale Abitur (DIA) diploma (in Finland).

Admission is based on the points awarded from matriculation examination.

Finnish vocational upper secondary qualification

This selection method is used in the following degree programmes

Business Information Technology
Information and Communication Technology
Nursing
Purchasing and Logistics Engineering
Tourism Management

Please note that,

Finnish (completed in Finland) vocational upper secondary qualifications completed after 1 August 2015 are taken into account in certificate-based selection.
Competence-based qualifications are not taken into account in certificate-based selection.

Admission is based on the points awarded from vocational upper secondary qualification.

Online course and interview: Business Information Technology (BIT)

Read about English language requirements under "1. Who can apply": English language requirements: Online course (BIT & ICT).

One selection queue for students to be selected to Business Information Technology is on the basis of the points awarded from an online course and interview. Applicant participates and completes an online course in English at Jamk's Open UAS, which is scored.

The online course is part of degree programme's curriculum.
The online course must be completed individually.
Business Information Technology & Information and Communication Technology programmes have separate online courses which do not co-operate. If you apply to both programmes, you will complete two online courses.
If you have already completed the online course, you must complete it again for joint application of spring 2025.

Applying, step-by-step:

1. Apply in joint application of spring 2025

Apply to Business Information Technology on Studyinfo.fi during joint application period 8 - 22 January 2025 by 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.

2. Participate to online course

Applicants with valid joint application form for Business Information Technology will be automatically registered to the open UAS online course.
The online course begins on 10 February 2025 and ends on 6 April 2025.
You must score a minimum 20 out of 40 points from the course (the course and exam must be completed with certain minimum points, read more on the course platform).

3. Participate to group interview

After the online course at least 100 applicants with highest points are invited to an online group interview.
The interview is held during week 16 (14 - 18 April 2025).
You must score a minimum of 20 out of 60 points of the interview.

In order to receive a grade and be accepted as a student, the applicant must successfully authenticate with a Candour ID before the end of the course on 6 April 2025. The authentication is done by taking a photo with the Candour ID application of a valid passport or a biometric EU/EEA identity card. Online course and interview: Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

One selection queue for students to be selected to Information and Communication Technology is on the basis of the points awarded from an online course and interview. Applicant participates and completes an online course in English.

The online course must be completed individually.
Information and Communication Technology & Business Information Technology have separate online courses which do not co-operate. If you apply to both programmes, you will complete two online courses.
If you have already completed the online course, you must complete it again for joint application of spring 2025.

Applying, step-by-step:

2. Participate to online course

Applicants with valid joint application form for Information and Communication Technology will be automatically registered to the online course.
The online course begins on 5 February 2025 and ends on 9 March 2025.
You must score a minimum 50 out of 100 points from the course (the course and exam must be completed with certain minimum points, read more on the course platform).

3. Participate to interview

After the online course at least 100 applicants with highest points are invited to an online interview.
The interview is individual.
The interviews are held during the weeks 14-15 (31 March - 11 April 2025).
You must score a minimum of 30 out of 60 points of the interview.

In order to receive a grade and be accepted as a student, the applicant must successfully authenticate with a Candour ID before the end of the course.The authentication is done by taking a photo with the Candour ID application of a valid passport or a biometric EU/EEA identity card. Interview: 120 ECTS credits of BBA Studies (International Business)

This selection method concerns ONLY Jamk's International Business.

This admission method concerns applicants who are completing or have completed (within 5 years) 120 ECTS credits of BBA Studies (bachelor’s level studies in Business Administration):

in the International EBP Bachelor programme of Kedge Business School France and has chosen Jamk as the partner university, OR
in Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), India:
An applicant from the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programme with a specialization in Entrepreneurship and Business Analytics OR Business Analytics and Digital Marketing, offered by The Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management (YIASCM), under The Faculty of Commerce and Management of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangalore, India OR
in Middle East College, Oman: An applicant from the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business Administration (General Management) programme at Middle East College, Muscat, Oman.

The applicants must have begun their studies (the first enrolment as an attending student) in autumn 2020 or later.

Applicants with 120 ECTS credits completed in higher education institution approved by Jamk, must attach transcript of records to the online application:

90 credits completed by 29 January 2025 at 3.00 pm Finnish time,
total 120 credits completed by 10 July 2025 at 3.00 pm Finnish time.

Please notice that applicants applying with 120 ECTS credits BBA level studies must also fulfill the general entry requirements for eligibility (senior secondary degree). Those selected based on 120 ECTS credits do not need to provide an English language proficiency certificate.

Interview

All eligible applicants who have demonstrated their eligibility will be invited to the interview.

The online interview will be held from February 2025 onwards.
The applicant must score at least 40/100 points from the interview in order to pass the interview and have a chance to be admitted for the programme.

Results of Student Selection

Results are announced end of March at the earliest and on 28 May 2025, at the latest.

Accept the offer of admission on studyinfo.fi.
Enroll for attendance/non-attendance.
NON-EU/EEA citizens: pay the tuition fee payment as soon as possible.
Start the possible residence permit application process immediately in May.
Studies will begin in August 2025.

The student selection is conditional until the final certificate has been checked.

Please note that if you have been admitted by certificate-based selection, you must have completed the IB/EB Diploma.

IB/EB degree students graduating in the spring of applying are part of the certificate-based selection with the predicted grades. For this reason the final diploma has to be checked. In case your final grades are lower than the predicted grades, it might affect on the student selection.

Accept the study place

If you have been admitted to a study programme, you will receive a notification to your email.

You must accept the offered study place by 10 July 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time OR according to your personal deadline, stated on Studyinfo.fi. Otherwise you will lose the study place.

You can accept only one study place per academic term. Accepting a study place is a binding choice that cannot be cancelled or changed later. When you accept a study place, all your other study place offers are cancelled.

You cannot be accepted to other programmes starting in the same academic term after you have accepted a study place.

You can be accepted from waiting list until 5 August 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time, in case there are available study places.

Enroll for attendance / non-attendance

In addition of accepting the offer of admission, enroll for attendance by 10 July 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time, according to the e-mail instructions. Non-enrollment (both for attendance and non-attendance) leads to loss of study entitlement.

Students may enroll as non-attending students in the first year only if they are:

completing their military or civil service in accordance with the Conscription Act, Non-Military Service Act or Act on Women's Voluntary Military Service
on maternity, paternity or parental leave
incapable of commencing the studies due to personal illness or disability.

The absence must be verified with official documents during the enrollment period at Student Services. If the documents are insufficient or are not delivered during the enrollment period, the student will be registered as attending.

Tuition fees and scholarships

The tuition fee must be paid by 10 July 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time. Applicants who are required to pay the tuition fee will receive the admission letter and instructions how to pay the tuition fee for the first year.

If you are exempted from paying the tuition fee, please attach a copy of your valid passport or national ID card where your citizenship is indicated, and/or a copy of the exempting document to the online application form.

Start the residence permit application procedure

Non-EU/EEA students need a student residence permit for studying in Finland. The residence permits are granted by the Finnish Immigration Service. You can find detailed information and advice on the residence permit requirements and procedures on the Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) website.

Start your residence permit process as soon as possible, carefully following the immigration authorities' instructions and regulations, so that you can receive your permit before your studies begin! Please note, that the residence permit application process might take over two months.

Please note that Jamk does not process the residence permit applications nor can give any advice or guidance regarding the application process. Please contact Finnish Migration Service in all issues regarding this matter.

Appeal

If you are not satisfied with the student admission decision, please contact Jamk Admission Services by e-mail. If the student admission decision is still not reasonable, you may submit an appeal within 14 days of receiving the notification of the decision (sent by e-mail).

Appeal based on personal circumstances (difficult life situation, misunderstanding, health reasons) and so on will not be considered as valid reasons for appeal.

Student admission decision can be changed only if it is clearly shown that Jamk has not followed the student admission criteria. Therefore, the appeal must be well-grounded and it should contain accurate information on where the Jamk has not followed the criteria.

Tuition fees and scholarships
