How to apply for Bachelor’s Degrees

You can choose six application options for your application form. In the section called “Application options”, choose your preferred study programmes. In the first joint application of the spring you do not have to place the programmes in order of preference on the application. You can be accepted to six different degree programmes, but you can choose only one.

Please notice that you only change the application options by 22 January 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time!

Fill in the required information as instructed on the application form. Mandatory information is marked with an asterisk. If you do not have a Finnish identity code, you are asked to fill in your date of birth and gender.

Please use your own email address. If you use other person’s email address and they have applied before, the personal information of the other person will transfer to the new application. Please check your email and also your spam email folder regularly.

In the section called “permissions” you need to give your consent for electronic communication, give other relevant permissions and select your contact language. You need to fill in this information in order to submit the application.

After submitting the application, you will receive a confirmation email to the address you have given on the application form.

Application attachments are the necessary documents are required to supplement your application form.

You will find instructions on how to upload attachments and deadlines for when to upload them on the application form. You will be asked to upload attachments based on the answers you have given to questions on the application form.

Some attachments may be asked multiple times on the application form. In this case, you are required to upload the same attachment in multiple sections on the application form.

You can upload attachments as you are filling in the application form or you can upload them later. You can see the deadline for an individual attachment and the method of delivery next to the upload button on the form.

• Scan all the pages of the required document or take good quality pictures.
• Make sure that the pictures/scans are legible. 
• Combine the pages of the same document into one file.
• Check that the documents are all positioned in the same way upright.
• Recommended file formats are: PDF, JPG, PNG and DOCX.
• Name the attachments in the following way: Last name_First name_name of document.

Read more about submitting the required application documents below. The required application documents must be submitted by 29 January 2025 by 3.00 p.m. Finnish time. Please notice, that in case you do not submit the required documents, your application will not be processed and you cannot process in the student selection process.

In case you need to edit your application,

• you can use online banking codes from a bank in Finland, a Finnish mobile certificate or Finnish electronic ID-card to log in to the My Studyinfo -service to make changes
• you will also find the link to access to your application from the confirmation email

Please make sure that you can access to the same email address you use for submitting the application during the whole student selection process!

Submit the required attachments to the online application form (e.g. as pdf/jpg/png -files) by 29 January 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.

• copies of the original final degree certificate (senior secondary school/high school/higher education qualification)
• authorised translation of the certificate if required (in English, Finnish or Swedish, the translation must have the translators' signature and stamp), copy is enough
• copy of a valid passport / biometric EU/EEA identification card, if required
• an English language proficiency certificate
• Non-EU/EAA citizens: If applicable, copy of a document that exempts you from paying the tuition fee

You can apply if your degree certificate is completed during the spring of applying. In this case, attach a transcript of study records or other certificate provided by the learning institution that states the degree/qualification you are completing to your application (and official translation if needed).

• It should also state the scope of the degree and estimated date of graduation.
• The certificate should be provided with the official stamp of the educational institution and must be signed and clarified by an educational institution representative including a representative's title.

If you have already graduated, UAS' accept only the final certificates awarded by national and regional bodies granting educational certificates. Various other documents such as "Testimonials", "Statements of Results", or "Result Slips" are not accepted as official certificates.

Please note that the admission is not final until the original school documents have been verified by the Admission Services by 30 September.

English language requirements

To be selected, you must submit an English language proficiency certificate or a certificate of your previous studies by 29 January 2025, 3.00 pm Finnish time.

Submit the required attachments to the online application form (e.g. as pdf/jpg/png -files) by 29 January 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.

• copies of the original degree certificate
• authorised translation of the certificate if needed (in English, Finnish or Swedish, the translation must have the translators' signature and stamp), copy is enough
• copy of a valid passport / biometric EU/EEA identification card, if required
• an English language proficiency certificate
• Non-EU/EAA citizens: If applicable, copy of a document that exempts you from paying the tuition fee

If you graduate during the spring and apply with International Baccalaureate (IB)/European Baccalaureate (EB) degree, please attach your predicted grades to the online application form by 1 April 2025 by 3:00 p.m. Finnish time or the final grades of Deutsche Internationale Abitur (DIA) degree to the online application form by 30 April 2025 by 3:00 p.m. Finnish time.

Your admission is conditional until the final original degree certificate has been checked at the Student Services in the beginning of studies. The final deadline to present the original final certificates is 31 August 2025.

You need a valid, acceptable identification document to be able to participate in the International UAS Exam. The passport/identity card has to be valid until the date of the exam. The following documents are accepted as a proof of identity with no exceptions: 

A passport

• Submit the number of your passport to the application form by 22 January 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.
• Attach the cover and information pages to your application form by 29 January 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.

A biometric EU/EEA identification card

• Submit the number of your EU/EEA identification card to the application form by 22 January 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.
• Attach a copy of both sides of the card to your application form by 29 January 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.

If the information you submit is incorrect or you do not submit the required information to the application by the set date, you cannot participate to the exam.

Notice, that also Finnish citizens must submit identification document!

Social services and health care

Technology and transport

• Bachelor of Engineering, Automation and Robotics (240 ECTS)
• Bachelor of Engineering, Information and Communication Technology (240 ECTS)
• Bachelor of Engineering, Purchasing and Logistics Engineering (240 ECTS)

Tourism and hospitality

• Bachelor of Hospitality, Tourism Management (210 ECTS)

When applied to degree programmes in the field of social and health care, the student's state of health and/or ability to function is evaluated during the application process. 

So-called SORA legislation applies to education leading to a degree in universities of applied sciences in the field of social services and health care, the humanities and education, sports and maritime studies as well as education leading to a degree in universities in the field of pharmacy, dentistry, medicine, speech–language pathology, teacher education, psychology, social work and art pedagogy. These fields have requirements concerning the safety of minors, patient and customer safety or traffic safety which restrict student admission. In this case, it is required that the health and functional capacity of approved applicants is such that they are able to take part in the practical assignments or training related to the studies.

International UAS Exam, an online entrance examination, concerns the following degree programmes:

• Automation and Robotics
• International Business
• Nursing
• Purchasing and Logistics Engineering
• Tourism Management

The International UAS Exam will be held online.

• The entrance examination assesses the applicants’ abilities to study in universities of applied sciences.
• The entrance examination does not contain any pre-reading materials or pre-tasks.
• The applicant must score minimum points in order to be selected.

English language proficiency certificate

In order to be considered for selection by the International UAS Exam, you must submit an English language proficiency certificate by 29 January 2025, 3.00 p.m. Finnish time. Read more from the top of this page (Who can apply? -> English language requirements).

Identification documents

You need a valid, acceptable identification document to be able to participate in the International UAS Exam. The passport/identity card has to be valid until the date of the exam. The following documents are accepted as a proof of identity with no exceptions:  

A passport

• Submit the number of your passport to the application form by 22 January 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.
• Attach the cover and information pages to your application form by 29 January 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.

A biometric EU/EEA identification card

• Submit the number of your EU/EEA identification card to the application form by 22 January 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.
• Attach a copy of both sides of the card to your application form by 29 January 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.

If the information you submit is incorrect or you do not submit the required information to the application by the set date, you cannot participate to the exam.

• The results of the certificate-based selection will be published by 28 May 2025 at the latest.
• If you want to have a chance to be selected by both certificate-based selection and international UAS Exam/online course, you must participate to the exam/online course which is held before the results of the certificate-based selection are published.

• Please note! English language skills must be proven even for the certificate-based selection. Please read more about language proficiency certificates on UASinfo.fi, information on the site will be updated!

Finnish Matriculation examination

This selection method is used in all bachelor's degree programmes in spring 2025.

The certificate-based selection concerns applicants who have completed or will complete during the spring of applying:

• the Finnish matriculation examination (in Finland)
• International Baccalaureate diploma (IB)
• European Baccalaureate diploma (EB)
• Reifeprüfung (RP) diploma (in Finland) or 
• Deutsche Internationale Abitur (DIA) diploma (in Finland).

Admission is based on the points awarded from matriculation examination.

Finnish vocational upper secondary qualification

This selection method is used in the following degree programmes

• Automation and Robotics
• Business Information Technology
• Information and Communication Technology
• Nursing
• Purchasing and Logistics Engineering
• Tourism Management

Please note that,

• Finnish (completed in Finland) vocational upper secondary qualifications completed after 1 August 2015 are taken into account in certificate-based selection.
• Competence-based qualifications are not taken into account in certificate-based selection.

Admission is based on the points awarded from vocational upper secondary qualification.

One selection queue for students to be selected to Business Information Technology is on the basis of the points awarded from an online course and interview. Applicant participates and completes an online course in English at Jamk's Open UAS, which is scored.

• The online course is part of degree programme's curriculum.
• The online course must be completed individually.
• Business Information Technology & Information and Communication Technology programmes have separate online courses which do not co-operate. If you apply to both programmes, you will complete two online courses.
•  If you have already completed the online course, you must complete it again for joint application of spring 2025.

Applying, step-by-step:

1. Apply in joint application of spring 2025

• Apply to Business Information Technology on Studyinfo.fi during joint application period 8 - 22 January 2025 by 3.00 p.m. Finnish time.

2. Participate to online course

• Those who have demonstrated their English language skills by proved certificate by the set deadline, will be invited to the online course by email.
• You will receive an email, to the address you have given on the Studyinfo application form, how to register/log in to the online course platform.
  • Please use your own personal email address.
  • Make sure that your email address is working and accessible before applying.
  • The email address MUST be the same email address that you have given on the application form, when registering to the online course platform.
  • Strongly avoid changing the email address during the admission process. Jamk is not responsible if you do not receive all emails, malfunction of email systems or other equivalent incidents. If you change your email address during the admission process, it might be that you are not able to continue your online course.
• The online course begins on 10 February 2025 and ends on 6 April 2025.
  • Note that you must start the course by 24th of February 2025 at the very latest (you must be active and return assignments by the deadline). Otherwise, you will lose your spot on the online course, and you cannot continue the course.
• You must score a minimum 20 out of 40 points from the course (the course and exam must be completed with certain minimum points, read more on the course platform).

3. Participate to group interview

• After the online course at least 100 applicants with highest points are invited to an online group interview. 
• The interview is held during week 16 (14 - 18 April 2025). 
• You must score a minimum of 20 out of 60 points of the interview.

Identification

In order to receive a grade and be accepted as a student, the applicant must successfully identify with a Candour ID. The identification is done by taking a photo with the Candour ID application of a valid passport or a valid biometric EU/EEA identity card. Note: The EU/EEA identity card must have a biometric symbol. The symbol is located on the front or back side of the biometric identity card.

No other forms of identification documents are accepted. For example, residence permit cards or non-biometric EU/EEA identity cards will not be accepted. The identification with Candour application is done during/after the online course. For more information on identification, please refer to the course guide/information.

• You must score a minimum 50 out of 100 points from the course (the course and exam must be completed with certain minimum points, read more on the course platform).

3. Participate to interview

• After the online course at least 100 applicants with highest points are invited to an online interview.
• The interview is individual.
• The interviews are held during the weeks 14-15 (31 March - 11 April 2025).
• You must score a minimum of 30 out of 60 points of the interview.

Identification

In order to receive a grade and be accepted as a student, the applicant must successfully identify with a Candour ID. The identification is done by taking a photo with the Candour ID application of a valid passport or a valid biometric EU/EEA identity card. Note: The EU/EEA identity card must have a biometric symbol. The symbol is located on the front or back side of the biometric identity card.

No other forms of identification documents are accepted. For example, residence permit cards or non-biometric EU/EEA identity cards will not be accepted. This selection method concerns ONLY Jamk's International Business.

This admission method concerns applicants who are completing or have completed (within 5 years) 120 ECTS credits of BBA Studies (bachelor’s level studies in Business Administration):

• in the International EBP Bachelor programme of Kedge Business School France and has chosen Jamk as the partner university, OR
• in Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), India:
  An applicant from the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programme with a specialization in Entrepreneurship and Business Analytics OR Business Analytics and Digital Marketing, offered by The Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management (YIASCM), under The Faculty of Commerce and Management of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangalore, India OR
• in Middle East College, Oman: An applicant from the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business Administration (General Management) programme at Middle East College, Muscat, Oman.

The applicants must have begun their studies (the first enrolment as an attending student) in autumn 2020 or later.

Applicants with 120 ECTS credits completed in higher education institution approved by Jamk, must attach transcript of records to the online application:

• 90 credits completed by 29 January 2025 at 3.00 pm Finnish time,
• total 120 credits completed by 10 July 2025 at 3.00 pm Finnish time.

Please notice that applicants applying with 120 ECTS credits BBA level studies must also fulfill the general entry requirements for eligibility (senior secondary degree). Those selected based on 120 ECTS credits do not need to provide an English language proficiency certificate.

Interview

All eligible applicants who have demonstrated their eligibility will be invited to the interview.

• The online interview will be held from February 2025 onwards.
• The applicant must score at least 40/100 points from the interview in order to pass the interview and have a chance to be admitted for the programme.

Please notice that the admission process is not final until the original school documents have been submitted to Admission Services on campus. The deadline to submit the original school documents is 30 September 2025.

If the documents have not been submitted by the deadline, the admitted study place is cancelled.

If you have graduated during the spring of applying you must provide your final grades/certificate to the Student Services by 10 July 2025.

The student selection is conditional until the final certificate has been checked.

Please note that if you have been admitted by certificate-based selection, you must have completed the IB/EB Diploma. 

IB/EB degree students graduating in the spring of applying are part of the certificate-based selection with the predicted grades. For this reason the final diploma has to be checked. In case your final grades are lower than the predicted grades, it might affect on the student selection.

If you have been admitted to a study programme, you will receive a notification email from Studyinfo.fi to the email address you have given on your application form.

• accept the study place by 10 July 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time OR
• according to your personal deadline
• admissions from the waiting lists end on 5 August 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time
• if you do not accept the offered study place by the given deadline, the study place is cancelled.

You can accept only one study place per academic term. Accepting a study place is a binding choice that cannot be cancelled or changed later. When you accept a study place, all other study place offers are cancelled. You cannot be accepted to other programmes starting in the same academic term after you have accepted a study place. 

You can accept the offer of admission with the link in the notification email that you have received. 

• if you have a Finnish social security number and Finnish online banking credentials (with e-identification enabled), mobile certificate or an electronic ID-card, you can accept the admission offer on My Studyinfo.
• if you cannot accept the offer of admission electronically, please contact Jamk Student Services: studentservices(at)jamk.fi.  

When you accept the offer of admission electronically, you will receive an automatic email notifying you that the offer has been accepted successfully.

After you have accepted the study place, you need to register as a student in the higher education institution by the given deadline. This takes place as enrolling as an attending or non-attending student. Only students who have enrolled for attendance are entitled to complete degree-awarding studies, attend courses and to have their credits recorded.

• enroll for attendance by 10 July 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time OR
• according to your personal schedule.
• enroll for attendance on Studyinfo.fi when you are accepting the study place.
• if you do not enroll by the given deadleadline, you will loose your study entitlement.

Enrolling for non-attendance

Students may enroll as non-attending students in the first year only if they are:

• completing their military or civil service in accordance with the Conscription Act, Non-Military Service Act or Act on Women's Voluntary Military Service
• on maternity, paternity or parental leave
• incapable of commencing the studies due to personal illness or disability.

The absence must be verified with official documents during the enrollment period for Student Services. If the documents are insufficient or are not delivered during the enrollment period, the student will be registered as attending.

Changing the enrollment status

If you have already enrolled and want to change your enrollment status, contact Jamk Student Services: studenservices(at)jamk.fi.

The tuition fee must be paid by 10 July 2025 at 3.00 p.m. Finnish time. ​​​Applicants who are required to pay the tuition fee will receive the admission letter and instructions how to pay the tuition fee for the first year. 

If you are exempted from paying the tuition fee, please attach a copy of your valid passport or national ID card where your citizenship is indicated, and/or a copy of the exempting document to the online application form.

Non-EU/EEA students need a student residence permit for studying in Finland. The residence permits are granted by the Finnish Immigration Service.  

• you can find detailed information and advice on the Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) website.

Start your residence permit process as soon as possible, carefully following the immigration authorities' instructions and regulations, so that you can receive your permit before your studies begin! Please note, that the residence permit application process might take over two months.

Please note that Jamk does not process the residence permit applications nor can give any advice or guidance regarding the application process. Please contact Finnish Migration Service in all issues regarding this matter.

If you are not satisfied with the student admission decision, please contact Jamk Admission Services by e-mail. If the student admission decision is still not reasonable, you may submit a written appeal within 14 days of receiving the notification of the decision.

Appeal based on personal circumstances (f.e. difficult life situation, misunderstanding, health reasons) will not be considered as valid reasons for appeal.

The written appeal must be well-grounded, and it must contain accurate information on where Jamk UAS has not followed the admission criteria.

The following information must be included:

• contact details
• the applied degree programme in question
• which section of the admission criteria was not followed by Jamk
• which section of the decision should be rectified
• the grounds for the appeal
• possible documents that are used as a basis of the appeal

The appeal will be reviewed by Jamk Study Affairs Board. The decision made by Jamk Study Affairs Board is announced to the applicant in written. The appeal process might take a few weeks.
