Accessibility of the service
The website largely meets the requirements of the accessibility criteria required.
Inaccessible content
Some parts of the website are not fully accessible. The key shortcomings in the accessibility of the online service are described below.
Perceivable
Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive.
No data cells assigned to table header
- Inaccessible content and deficiencies: Some pages include forms which use tables. Every header cell in a table should have at least one data cell assigned to it but this is not the case with these new forms which is a problem for screen reader users. We aim to fix this problem by the end of October 2024.
- Accessibility issue: WCAG 1.3.1 Info and relationships.
Text does not have minimum contrast
- Inaccessible content and deficiencies: www.jamk.fi home page, Apply to Jamk and Jamk Open University of Applied Sciences pages have a mosaic element in which there are links to the section's subpages. According to Salvia evaluation tool, the texts in the mosaic element do not meet the minimum contrast requirement. We aim to fix this problem by the end of October 2024.
- Accessibility issue: WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (minimum).
Operable
User interface components and navigation must be operable.
Links without a text alternative
- Inaccessible content and deficiencies: Some pages have links without a text alternative. In addition, some pages have link texts that are identical although the links go to different pages. However, the link context indicates the difference between the links because these identical link texts on the same page are either under different headings or in different banners. We will instruct our content producers about these issues and do our best to fix these as soon as possible.
- Accessibility issue: WCAG 2.4.4 Link purpose (in context).
Visible label is not part of accessible name
- Inaccessible content and deficiencies: The website has a Checklist functionality which is displayed with a heart shaped button. By clicking the button it is possible to save a web page to a Checklist in the browser used. The visible label of the button (Add to checklist) is not the same or is not part of the accessible name. We aim to fix this problem by the end of October 2024.
- Accessibility issue: WCAG 2.5.3 Label and name.
Robust
Content must be robust enough that it can be interpreted by by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.
Text alternative is missing
- Inaccessible content and deficiencies: In some articles, there are videos embedded with iframe from YouTube and the embed code does not have a text alternative. We will do our best to fix issue this as soon as possible.
- Accessibility issue: WCAG 4.1.2 Name, role, value.
Form control does not have accessible name
- Inaccessible content and deficiencies: There are nine web pages that include an embedded form and under the form there is a reCAPTCHA element. ReCAPTCHA is used to identify if the form is filled in by a human. The reCAPTCHA element used does not have an accessible name. We aim to fix this problem by the end of October 2024.
- Accessibility issue: WCAG 4.1.2 Name, role, value.
Iframe element does not have accessible name
- Inaccessible content and deficiencies: There are nine web pages that include a form embedded with iframe and under the form there is also a reCAPTCHA element which is embedded with iframe. ReCAPTCHA is used to identify if the form is filled in by a human. The reCAPTCHA iframe element does not have an accessible name. We aim to fix this problem by the end of October 2024.
