Visiting student instructions

1. Get Jamk username and password

You need a personal user name and password to log in to the Jamk network and services. You can check your username and change its password with your Finnish online bank account ID using Self service password reset (link to the service below).

If you do not have a suitable online bank ID or there are some other problems using service, please contact: campusonline(at)jamk.fi. If you are EduJyväskylä student please contact: avoinamk(at)jamk.fi.

Also read the Jamk Network Guide to New Users in the Helpdesk (link below).

Please note that most ICT services in Jamk require strong authentication.

Problems logging in? Try these tips:

  • If there is a problem logging into Moodle, make sure you are not logged into Moodle with the ID of another educational institution. If you are, log out from there first, or use the browser's private mode with a different login. Clearing the browser cache can also help the situation.
  • If you have enrolled for Jamk courses through Cross-Institutional Study Information Service (RIPA), your Jamk username will be activated at the beginning of that semester when the course will start (January 1st or August 1st). Only after this, go and get the Jamk username and set the password.

2. Log in to the learning environment

Jamk uses the web-based learning environment Moodle. Login to Moodle with your student email address ([email protected]) and the password you set in the Self service password reset. The course environment opens just before the commencement of the studies.

Log in to the Moodle environment. You will see the course in Moodle on the first day of the studies, at the latest. If there is a problem logging into Moodle, make sure you are not logged into Moodle with the ID of another educational institution. If you are, log out from there first, or use the browser's private mode with a different login. Clearing the browser cache can also help the situation.

3. Read Jamk email

You can access your Jamk email with your Jamk email address (username(at)student.jamk.fi) and the password you set in Self service password reset.

4. Get to know the course descriptions

Read the course description already before starting your studies. It details the learning outcomes and required assignments on the course, among other things. The descriptions can be found at the web sites of CampusOnline and EduJyväskylä.

If you want you can test your digital skills (link below).

5. Retrieve credits after your studies

After the end of the studies, the teacher evaluates the studies and enters the grade into Jamk’s transcript of records.

CampusOnline students

RIPA automatically transfers the grading to the study administration system of your own higher education institution. If you cannot see the grade there, log in to Peppi of Jamk and check if it is there. If not, contact the teacher of the course. If you can see the grade in Jamk’s Peppi, but not in your home institution's transcript, please contact Jamk via Cross-institutional students' contact form.
