Project description

The data economy is the fastest-growing sector in the EU, with data utilization at its core
as a key business resource. With digitalization, business processes increasingly rely on
data, opening new opportunities for innovation and efficiency improvements. However, many
individuals responsible for business development lack sufficient understanding of the business
models and opportunities offered by the data economy.
This project focuses on enhancing the skills of key personnel in SMEs in Central Finland on
data economy themes. The goal is to help companies create new service business models
and revenue logic by increasing knowledge about the data economy, its opportunities, and its
value to various organizations. Central to this is the adoption and full utilization of Peppol order
messages as part of data management. Additionally, the project aims to increase expertise in
using data as part of process management and development, forecasting, and reporting.
The project is divided into three sub-objectives:
1. Building a Data Economy Competence Path: Enables high-quality and impactful skill
enhancement in the data economy.
2. Increasing Knowledge of the Data Economy Growth Program and Its Business Opportunities:
Strengthens the ability to utilize data in business and product and service development.
3. Enhancing Business Capabilities to Enable New Revenue Logic: Strengthens the ability to
integrate data economy and digitalization opportunities into company strategy and practice.
The project consists of the following actions:
1. Pilot Training for Trainers and Building a Learning Environment: This work package pilots
a 'Train the Trainers' model for Peppol trainers, designs and implements digital competence
badges, and builds a digital learning platform.
2. Increasing Understanding of the Data Economy Environment: This work package designs
and implements a comprehensive data economy training program and creates a data economy
toolkit.
3. Data Economy Development Paths: This work package creates a situational picture of
employer-specific development paths, establishes peer learning groups, and develops and
implements concrete development paths.
In the short term, the project will significantly improve the data economy skills of key personnel
in Central Finnish companies, enabling faster and more efficient responses to market changes
and their anticipation. Companies will gain new tools and methods to support business
development and innovation, laying the foundation for long-term competitiveness and
productivity growth in the region.
The project is coordinated by Jamk University of Applied Sciences, with TIEKE Finnish
Information Society Development Centre as a co-implementer. The project will be carried out
1.3.2025-28.2.2027.
