The Association for the Study of Food and Society awards educational module developed by JAMK through an international cooperation

JAMK University of Applied Sciences’ Senior Lecturer Dr Francesca Allievi has received the Association for the Study of Food and Society (ASFS) pedagogy award for 2020.

The award was given on the basis of an experimental application of the Food Sustainability Index educational module titled ‘International Design Thinking co-teaching sessions on Food Sustainability and Empathy (with a creative use of FSI edu-toolkit)’. This was carried out as a cooperation between Roma Tre and ISIA Design School’s students and JAMK’s Bachelor of Hospitality Management (Service Business/Sustainable Gastronomy) students in course Food and Consumer course in 2019.

The awarded educational module was taught by Dr Francesca Allievi together with Prof Sonia Massari (Roma Tre University and ISIA Design School) and Dr Francesca Recanati (BCFN Foundation), who also received the award.

The ASFS Award for Food Studies Pedagogy is given to the teacher/teacher team of food studies in any discipline who presents a course that uses innovative and successful pedagogical techniques to reach students. Winners are acknowledged at the annual conference and in the journal, Food, Culture & Society.
