Functional capacity, participation and well-being of older people

The purpose of the GaitAge research project is to validate wearable sensor technology for measuring the gait characteristics of older people in laboratory and outdoor environment, to study changes in gait characteristics in different mobility environments, and to find out how these changes are linked to the individual's ability to participate in activities outside the home. The research will be carried out at the Institute of Rehabilitation of the JAMK University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the University of Jyväskylä. The research project produces new information on interaction between the individual and the environment as well as its significance for the mobility of older people.
