Project
Educational Cooperation for Climate Expertise in the Land Use Sector
Project sponsors
In the
project, study materials and study units are compiled from the results of the
RDI activities of universities of applied sciences in the field of natural
resources, especially the projects funded by the 'Hiilestä kiinni'
programme. The dissemination of the results is promoted in such a way that the
information is available in the native language on the forums that are easily
accessible by the target group. The materials are exported to the studies of
higher education institutions, for example to the Campus Online learning
platform. In addition, the results are communicated in a coordinated manner in
extensive networks and on the AgriHubi platform, and other communication
channels. Furthermore, with the help of the network cooperation of the universities
of applied sciences and the compilation of teaching materials, profiling of the
natural resource sectors of the universities of applied sciences is promoted.
The
deepening of the climate knowledge of the land use sector in the target groups
promotes the climate actions of agriculture and forestry, when they are
integrated as part of the teaching, and the perspective of financial
sustainability is also taken into account. In the project, verified practical
examples of how carbon sequestration in the soil can be enhanced are brought to
teaching and counseling. Climate-wise actions promote overall sustainability in
both agriculture and forestry. Effective and correctly selected measures
improve the profitability of agriculture and forestry and promote climate
action.
The measures promote carbon sequestration and
reduce greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture and forestry. Adaptation of
agriculture and forestry to climate change will also improve with increased
know-how.
universities of applied sciences of Seinäjoki (SeAMK), Savonia, South-Eastern
Finland (XAMK), Häme (HAMK), Karelia, Oulu (OAMK), Novia, Jyväskylä (JAMK) and
Lapland are responsible for the implementation of the project.
