Project description

Some of the farms that
are developing their operations recognize the possibility of new ways of
organizing cooperation between farms to improve their profitability and create
opportunities for new ways of implementing grain trade from the farm's perspective,
even in export markets. The pioneers of Datapelto - the reform of grain trade
with community data project tests in practice how the transfer of information
between the farm's own network and the network services of cooperation partners
is implemented from the perspective of the future vision mentioned above. The
aim is to find and solve the challenges related to the development of grain
farms in questions related to data transfer and storage, as well as in
questions related to the production and ownership of information. The basic
premise of the project is a farm that plans to use its grain drying and storage
capacity in the future to collect larger uniform grain batches in cooperation
with nearby farms. The grain farm also aims to network with other similar grain
farms to achieve economies of scale in the grain market together. The project
tests the functionality and limitations of data related to predicting and
verifying the quality and quantity of the harvest of one grain farm and its
cooperation farms, as well as the storage information of the grain, during
three growing seasons. The project also produces examples of good practices and
technical solutions to support other grain farms developing their production.
