The LiukasHackathon innovation competition organized by BioBoosters drew international teams to develop intelligent solutions for improving nutrient logistics. The selected teams include experts from Poland, Spain, Estonia, Sweden, and Finland. In total, applicants represented seven different countries, including also teams from Denmark and Lithuania.
The participating teams are:

- Agrolinera, Spain
- NFleet-Forbelog (read more NFleet, Forbelog), Finland
- Freight Automation by Hogs, Poland
- RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, Sweden
The Hackathon culminates in a competition held at the Bioeconomy campus in Saarijärvi on November 25-26, 2024, where the winners will be chosen. The bioeconomy campus is the homebase for an International Smart Agriculture Co-Creation Environment and Competence Cluster, Finnish Future Farm.
During the hackathon, the teams will be mentored by experts in business, innovation, digitalization, and startup development from Lithuania, Poland, Estonia, and Finland.
“We are impressed with how LiukasHackathon has attracted international teams to participate in this competition. There is a broad need for the solutions being developed, both domestically and internationally, so it is great to see proposal ideas from professionals across different countries,” says Minna Lappalainen, Director of the Institute of Bioeconomy at Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences and one of the mentors of the competition.
LiukasHackathon is part of the international BioBoosters project led by Jamk University of Applied Sciences and co-funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Program. BioBoosters, which brings together nine bioeconomy innovation networks from the Baltic Sea countries, including Finland, Sweden, the Baltic States, Poland, and Germany. The project organizes 18 Hackathons that support the responsible business and circular economy transition of bioeconomy companies.
