Jamk University of Applied Sciences offers four English-language bachelor’s degree programmes: in Nursing, International Logistics, International Business and Tourism Management. Applications can be submitted via www.studyinfo.fi. The deadline for applications expires on 23 January at 3 pm (UCT+2).
This year's new addition to English-language programmes is Tourism Management, which provides a detailed understanding of responsible and sustainable tourism in addition to enhancing students' business competence for working in the international tourism industry.
– The global marketplace and ever-changing consumer trends demand innovative thinking, the ability to utilize technology and meet customer needs. These are also the focus points in Tourism Management, says Susanna Nuijanmaa, senior lecturer from JAMK's School of Business.
In recent years, Jamk's English-language programmes have attracted applicants from, for example, Nepal, Russia and Vietnam. Programmes in English also attract more and more Finnish applicants every year, as many are interested in international positions. In addition, the working language in many fields is English regardless of location, so English as a studying language as well is thought to offer an advantage for future career.
English-language programmes confer the same qualifications as the corresponding Finnish-language programmes.
One application round with two deadlines will be arranged this spring. The first application period (9-23 January 2019) is for submitting applications for foreign-language bachelor’s programmes and the second application period (20 March - 3 April 2019) for programmes offered in Finnish and English.
New legislation concerning tuition fees came into effect in Finland in 2016. It obligates Jamk as well to charge tuition fees from students who are not citizens of a Member State of the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA). The tuition fees of Jamk University of Applied Sciences are €8,000/academic year for bachelor’s degrees and €9,000/academic year for master's degrees. All students who are obligated to pay tuition fees will be awarded a 50% grant for the first academic year. From the second academic year onwards, the students will be entitled to a 50% grant if they have made progress in their studies in line with the targets.
