The collaboration's goal was to increase Elomatic's experts' understanding of the possibilities of the circular economy and its impact on future expert work. The experts delved into global drivers of bio- and circular economy, as well as national and international goals. They explored the circular economy and its operational models from various perspectives and across different industries. In the final session, experts had the opportunity to experiment with circular economy business models through the Circula game.
In the circular economy, it is essential to let go of the old and boldly try new things. Elomatic's experts experienced this practically during a visit to the Jyväskylä wastewater treatment plant. The excursion to Metsä Fibre's bioproduct mill was also impressive.
In the training program, experts also examined their client companies from the perspective of bio- and circular economy and familiarized themselves with Finland's strategic circular economy program in addition to circular economy training.
During internal mentoring sessions, experts went through key projects related to the circular economy and their specific characteristics. Circular economy specialist Hanna Lausmaa explained how to incorporate circular economy principles into the planning and development phases. The mentoring sessions also considered how to turn an idea into a commercial production facility with the guidance of Business Development Director Teemu Turunen.
What benefits did Elomatic gain from the joint circular economy program? The experts' overall understanding of the circular economy expanded, and they identified new perspectives on the circular economy from both their own field of expertise and other fields. The experts gained inspiration, knowledge, and skills for the circular economy transition, as well as networks with other experts in their company working in different industries and locations. In the circular economy, the courage to try new things is also crucial!
"All in all, the collaboration has been easy and effective. The joint circular economy training program is a glimpse into the future of industry. In my opinion, Jamk has a good overall understanding of the circular economy and is at the forefront of industry collaboration. In the future, our hope is to expand and deepen our collaboration", says Teemu Turunen, Elomatic's Business Development Director.
Jamk had the opportunity to collaborate with experts from different industries and hear their views on the everyday realities of the marine, machinery, process, and energy industries.
Elomatic is a Finnish-owned, globally operating consulting and design firm with over 1300 experts. The green transition and circular economy shift are rapidly impacting all of Elomatic's business sectors – from process and machinery industries to energy, pharmaceuticals, and marine industries.
