Regranted and temporary study entitlements at Jamk
Student whose study entitlement has expired after extended study period or has not completed their degree during a discretionary extension of the study period may apply for regranted study entitlement or temporary study entitlement. The application procedure depends on if an applicant is a former student of Jamk or a former student of another University of Applied Sciences.

Criteria
The study entitlement can be regranted for a maximum of two semesters from the beginning of the next semester.
Your may apply for the regranted study entitlement if
- you have studied at Jamk
- you have started your studies on or after 1 August 2015 and your study entitlement has expired
- you have left to complete maximum of 60 credits (bachelor's degree) or 30 credits (master's degree)
The study entitlement can be lost due expiration of the study period or the discretionary extension of study period, failure to enrol for attendance/non-attendance or discontinuing of studies.
Students who have regained their study entitlement can neither enrol as a non-attending student nor apply for discretionary extension of their study period. In general, it is not possible to regrant the study entitlement for discontinued degree programmes or degree programmes under abolition. It is possible to apply for the regranted study entitlement only once per the study right in question.
The regranted study entitlement is applied via a continuous admission process throughout the year. After a positive decision, studies will start in the beginning of the next semester.
1. Revised study plan
First, contact your Study Counsellor/Tutor Teacher/Programme Coordinator of your field, who will check the situation of your study entitlement, attendance and transcript of records. You will also prepare a revised plan for completing your degree. The revised study plan is processed as an appendix to the application.
2. Timetable and application
Applying for the regranted study entitlement concerns the students whose study entitlement has expired (and who has started his/her studies on or after 1 August 2015)
The regranted study entitlement is applied via a continuous admission process throughout the year. After a positive decision, studies will start in the beginning of the next semester.
There is a handling fee of 50 euros charged for the application (Council of State Decree 932/2014 3 §). The fee is payed electronically when submitting the application.
3. Decision of regranting study entitlement
The Head of the Department and the Education Services Manager will make the decision of approval of regranting the study entitlement. After a positive decision, the studies will start from the beginning of the next semester.

Criteria
You may apply for the temporary study entitlement for finishing studies if
- you are a former student of another University of Applied Sciences who has lost their study right.
- your studies have begun on 1 August 2015 or later (Autumn 2024 application period) on 1 January 2016 or later (Spring 2025 application period)
- you have left to complete maximum of 60 credits (bachelor's degree) or 30 credits (master's degree).
A student must have had begun their studies not later than 10 years before the new study entitlement begins. The first enrolment as an attending student in autumn 2024 application must be autumn 2015 or later.
If you have more than 60 or 30 credits left to complete, you can complete the remaining studies in open university and then apply for the temporary study entitlement to finish your studies.
The study entitlement can be lost due expiration of the study period or the discretionary extension of study period, failure to enrol for attendance/non-attendance or discontinuing of studies.
The temporary study entitlement can be granted only to same or similar degree programme in which the earlier study entitlement has been and only to such a degree programme which is available at Jamk’s provision of study opportunities. The study entitlement can be regranted for a maximum of two semesters from the beginning of the next semester. Students who have been granted the temporary study entitlement can neither enrol as a non-attending student nor apply for discretionary extension of their study period in case they do not complete their studies during two semesters. It is possible to apply for the temporary study entitlement only once per the study right in question.
The separate application period at Studyinfo.fi is open twice a year: in spring 1 – 15 May and in autumn 1 – 15 October.
1. Revised study plan
First, contact your Study Counsellor/Tutor Teacher/Programme Coordinator of your field, who will check the situation of your study entitlement, attendance and transcript of records.
You will prepare a revised study plan for completing your degree. The revised study plan is processed as an appendix to the application.
2. Apply 1 - 15 October 2024 by 3.00 p.m. Finnish time
Fill in the application form for the same degree programme in which you have lost your study entitlement. The application must be submitted by 15 October 2024 by 3 p.m. Finnish time.
- Submit the Revised study plan with the application form.
- Submit certificate of termination of studies and transcript of study records (in Finnish and English).
- If you are required to pay the tuition fee but have an exempting document, submit the document with the application form.
The attachments must be on the application form by 31 October 2024 by 3 p.m. Finnish time.
3. Decision of the temporary study entitlement
The Head of the Department will make the decision of approval of temporary study entitlement. The decision is either accepted or rejected.
So-called SORA legislation applies to education leading to a degree in universities of applied sciences in the field of social services and health care. These fields have requirements concerning the safety of minors, patient and customer safety or traffic safety which restrict student admission. In this case, it is required that the health and functional capacity of approved applicants is such that they are able to take part in the practical assignments or training related to the studies.
The results of the separate application are published according to the same schedule as the results of the joint application. (spring application period: in the beginning of July, autumn application period: in the end of November.) The applicant is notified about the decision by e-mail and Studyinfo.fi. The deadline for accepting the study place is the same as in joint application.

Appeal
If you are not satisfied with the student admission decision, please contact Jamk Admission Services by e-mail. If the student admission decision is still not reasonable, you may submit an appeal within 14 days of receiving the notification of the decision (sent by e-mail).
Appeal based on personal circumstances (difficult life situation, misunderstanding, health reasons) and so on will not be considered as valid reasons for appeal.
Student admission decision can be changed only if it is clearly shown that Jamk has not followed the student admission criteria. Therefore, the appeal must be well-grounded and it should contain accurate information on where the Jamk has not followed the criteria.
