Are you interested in using and applying artificial intelligence and data analytics? In our Master's programme you will gain a general overview and knowledge of potential application of data analytics and AI, machine learning, neural network methods and mathematical models behind them. Apply and become a professional in AI and data analytics!
Student knowledge profile is dictated through his personal learning plan.
Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics Master’s Degree programme student knows how about possibilities of data analytics and artificial intelligence, their applications, the importance of data quality, and the ethics of artificial intelligence. The student will know how to plan, develop, implement data analytics and artificial intelligence to the various real-world challenges of the project. The student have knowledge and skills to apply the methods to right data in real environments.
The student will have the ability for life-long learning professionally, make decisions and communicate effectively as part of a multinational team. The student knows how to conduct research ethically.
After completing the studies you will have gained a general overview and knowledge of potential applications of data analytics and artificial intelligence, data analytics, machine learning, neural network methods and mathematical models behind them.
Furthermore, you know the data privacy settings, quality requirements, and ethical considerations. You will learn how to find the right methods for different sets of data and how to solve problems. Evaluating the effectiveness of the methods used is an essential part of applying them.
The master’s thesis (30 ECTS credits) is the core of the master’s degree. The objective of the master’s thesis is to develop and demonstrate the student’s ability to apply research data and use chosen methods to analyse and solve problems arising in professional work. It also demonstrates the student’s readiness and ability for independent, demanding expert work.
If you have a previously completed Bachelor or Master level degree, you deal with data and know how to program, do apply. The extent of the education is 60 – 90 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) depending on the degree. For example, for someone with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.Eng.) it is 60 ECTS, and for someone with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA) it is 90 ECTS.
As a part-time student, you can complete the programme in approximately two years. It is also possible to complete the programme in one year as full-time studies. The education is implemented as blended learning: you study part of the time independently and you meet your group during contact teaching days 2-3 times a semester.
The objective of the education is to respond to the growing challenges of data analytics and artificial intelligence. After completing the studies, you will know about possibilities of data analytics and artificial intelligence, their applications, the importance of data quality, and the ethics of artificial intelligence. You know how to plan, develop and implement data analytics and artificial intelligence to the various real-world challenges in projects. You have knowledge and skills to apply the methods to right data in real environments.
After completing the degree, you can work as e.g. a Data scientist, Data analyst, Data engineering, AI specialist, Business Analyst or Machine Learning Engineer. The graduates usually work in ICT tasks in which they plan, develop and also implement projects which need know-how in artificial intelligence and data-analytics.
The graduate may apply to continue on to postgraduate studies in science or arts at universities (Act 558/2009, Section 37) and in the school of professional teacher education. The studies can be continued by applying e.g. to corresponding post-degree education at universities abroad. A university of applied sciences also provides opportunities for continuing education in the form of specialisation studies, open studies, an online study portal (CampusOnline) and working life based continuing education.
