Practical information
This page is constantly updated, so please check in regularly for the latest information.
During the event, we will be using an application called Eventos for communications and updates. You can also find the event programme in the app. We highly recommend you to download the app on your mobile phone before the event.
Registration & info
When you arrive at the campus, please go first to the registration desk to get your name tag, lunch vouchers (if included) and other event materials. You can find the registration and info desk in the BTI building (later updated in the map).
Coat racks & luggage storage
We have organized staff to take care of the coat racks and luggage storage near the info desk. You can leave your luggage in the locked storage free of charge during the event days.
Lost and found items
The info desk is open on both days of the event and collects lost items during the event. You may also notify the info desk if you have lost something, and we will contact you if your item is found.
After the event the found objects are kept in the Institute of Bioeconomy for two weeks. After this all found objects will be delivered to the Jyväskylä police station. Please note that the process may be delayed due to the registration and dispatch of the items. Getting to the venue
The venue is located at the Bioeconomy Campus in Saarijärvi, Finland. The address of the venue is Tuumalantie 17. The distance from the venue to the city of Jyväskylä is about 63km, and to the town of Saarijärvi about 7km. Please note that the venue is an educational campus and a farm with limited services.
Arriving by public transport
By public transport, the easiest way to arrive to the venue is via Jyväskylä.
By air, you need to first fly to Helsinki and then transfer to a flight to Jyväskylä. You can purchase your plane ticket to Helsinki Airport: Welcome to Finavia airports | Finavia or Jyväskylä Airport: Jyväskylä | Finavia. Sometimes the price of the plane ticket to Jyväskylä airport might be the same or even cheaper than the air ticket to Helsinki airport. However, please note that there is no public transport or waiting taxis at Jyväskylä airport. You should arrange a taxi in advance by calling 0100 6900 or through using the JyTaksi app. Helsinki Airport is situated about 270 km from Jyväskylä. The most convenient way to arrive to Jyväskylä from Helsinki Airport is by train.
It is easy to travel to Jyväskylä by train or bus. Travelling by train is recommended as it’s quicker and there are more options in the timetables: Train tickets - VR. For bus schedules and prices please check Matkahuolto and OnniBus. Prices vary depending on departure time and place. When buying a ticket in advance, the prices are typically cheaper. Please note that OnniBus doesn’t accept cash payments on the bus.
From Jyväskylä to the venue you can take a local bus (limited schedule). The bus connection from Jyväskylä leaves from Platform 2, Jyväskylä Travel Centre (Matkakeskus). There is a direct connection to the Bioeconomy Campus. You can purchase your ticket on the website Matkahuolto. The cheapest option is to buy your ticket in advance. You can buy a ticket from the bus driver if there is room on the bus. If you buy a ticket on the bus, some local bus companies accept only cash. Ticket prices range from 15.90 € to 16.10 €
Alternatively, you can rent a car.
Arriving by car
If you arrive by your own vehicle, there are parking areas which you can see below. Parking is free in the main event area and is available in the car park (P1) of Institute of Bioeconomy and the roadside car park (P2), and additional parking spaces in the car park (P3). Maps of parking areas will be updated later.
If you wish to rent a car, there are several car rental companies in Jyväskylä. You can browse the different options in this Google search.
Transport to the venue organized by the event
Additionally, bus transport between the venue and chosen pick-up points in the city of Jyväskylä and the town Saarijärvi is organized by the event with a charge of 5€/one-way ride on both days. The buses stop at several pick-up points on the way.
Pick-up points in Jyväskylä: Hotel Alba | Hotel Verso | Hotel Alexandra | Kartano Kievari, The Real Country Hotel (Äänekoski). You don’t have to stay at these accommodations to take the bus shuttle to the venue and back. Please remember to book your transfer beforehand through the Meals and transportation form found in the registration link.

Approximate schedules:
- TUE morning, from pick-up point to AgriVenture, arrival at approx 9:30
- TUE afternoon, from AgriVenture to pick-up point, at approx 19:00
- WED morning, from pick-up point to AgriVenture, arrival at approx 9:30
- WED afternoon, from AgriVenture to pick-up point, at approx 17:30
Food & drinks
Meals are at the participants’ own expense. During the event days, we have some local street food booths at your service (pre-booking recommended), and/or you can have lunch at the Campus Canteen Tähkä (by pre-booking only). Lunch is served at 10:30-13:30 on both days, other food services operate throughout the event. Please note that the campus canteen Tähkä is not accessible for people with limited mobility. Student prices are valid in Tähkä for students from Finnish educational institutions.
Outside Forestori you can find a booth selling coffee, tea and snacks. Still and sparkling water is provided by the event organizers around the venue. You are welcome to bring a refillable water bottle, since there are water points in the venue area and tap water in Finland is drinkable and delicious. Bringing alcohol to the venue is prohibited.
Please note that the closest restaurants and supermarkets are located in the town of Saarijärvi around 7km from the venue.
Accessibility
Please note that not all premises at the venue are accessible. The accessible toilet and accessible parking lot is located in the premises of the Institute Bioeconomy. There is a lack of ramps in the venue area and the walkways have steep inclines and declines that can affect access.
Weather conditions
It's almost summer at the end of May, but still, the weather can be chilly. Bringing extra clothes in case of chilly weather is recommended. Rapid weather changes are also possible. There are some outdoor activities during the demos, which take place in the farming fields. Take some warm clothes and shoes suitable for cross-country walking with you. We also recommend bringing rain clothes, waterproof shoes and umbrella with you.
Please note that the main stage is located in a warehouse building and could be cold in case of bad weather.
Weather in Saarijärvi can be checked at the local weather service.
There may already be some mosquitoes in Finland in May, so it is a good idea to be prepared with mosquito spray to ensure a pleasant outdoor experience. The spray is available at local stores (not at the venue).
Safety & security
It is very important for us that our event is safe for all participants. Our event is alcohol & drug-free. There is one designated smoking area next to the parking lot in front of the Institute of Bioeconomy building, also found in the venue map. Please note that smoking elsewhere in the campus area is prohibited, since part of the campus is a second-grade educational institute. We also encourage you to not use strong perfumes and other scented products, since these may cause headaches for some people.
Security guards are present at the event all the time, and their job is to uphold the safety of everyone at the event. You can approach the security staff with any issues, and they will help you to the best of their ability. If you notice any security issues or disturbances at the event, please contact the security staff immediately.
The event has free first aid staff provided by Red Cross on event days. A certified paramedic is in charge of first aid. The on-duty paramedics can be found stationed near the info desk, patrolling the event area, or by contacting any staff member. You can recognize the first aid personnel by their Red Cross vests.
Proper behavior and harassment contact persons
This event is based on Jamk’s principles for Safer Space. You can find the guidelines here. Everyone is welcome to AgriVenture as themselves. Our event does not accept any kind of discrimination, inappropriate behavior, teasing, or harassment. If you notice inappropriate behavior, please do not hesitate to notify any security person or staff member.
Souvenirs
And what could be a better way to delight your loved ones or remember your AgriVenture journey afterwards than some good old souvenirs!
Some locally produced goods will be sold at the venue. The campus shop Kultavilja is also open on both event days (card payment only). We highly recommend you to try local delicacies and buy local, responsibly produced souvenirs to take home with you. This will support the local businesses and livelihoods as well as the well-being of the environment while offering you an authentic glimpse of Finnish culture and tradition. Remember to verify in advance what food products you are allowed to take to your destination country.
Chocolate, tea & design
Jyväskylä region is known for its chocolate, tea and designers. You can find a wide range of souvenirs from a variety of local businesses, and some traditional Finnish specialties are also found in local grocery and retail stores. Some examples include salty liquorices “salmiakki” and famous Finnish designs like Marimekko, Iittala and Aalto products.
Local Panda chocolates can be found in regular shops and the factory store is located in Vaajakoski, Jyväskylä, reachable also by public transport. Local tea can be found in Teeleidi’s and TakeT’s teahouses, and for coffee drinkers, there is locally roasted organic coffee by Paahtimo Papu. For local design and crafts from Jyväskylä there are shops around Toivola courtyard, Taito Shop and KOTO Designmarket. In Saarijärvi city center you can buy regional delicacies, handicrafts, art and local products from the stores of Lahjapiste and Taitokeskus Saarijärvi.

In Jyväskylä Region you can find beautiful nature spots such as lakes and national parks, as well as explore urban culture and history.
Sightseeing in Saarijärvi
Saarijärvi area offers a number of shops, local specialties and opportunities for culture. The city has several museums, historic buildings and monuments, as well as many outdoor activities. For example, the Saarijärvi museum features changing exhibitions, a café and local souvenirs.
The center of Saarijärvi is located 7 km from the venue.
Relatively close by, you can experience the finest primeval forest in southern Finland in Pyhä-Häkki National Park. The variation of bogs and forests provides a diverse habitat for species. Pyhä-Häkki National Park is located 24 kilometers from the venue, only accessible by car.

Sightseeing in Jyväskylä City Centre
In the Jyväskylä city area, you can find a range of shops and attractions within walking distance. The historical Toivola Courtyard offers a slice of the old wooden town and provides a variety of high-quality services including Coppersmith’s House Museum and several craft shops. Next to the city center, the Nero stairs lead to the top of the Harju Ridge, where you can visit the viewing tower and natural science museum for free. Other museums in town include the Handicrafts Museum, the Arts Museum and the Aalto2 Museum Center by the Seminaarinmäki University Campus.
From the central area you can also take a walk to the Tourujoki nature trail. There are information boards along the path, which you can walk around in outdoor shoes. It is also possible to use public transportation to get close to some nature trails, for example to Haukanniemi, Kolmisoppinen, Laajavuori, Sippulanniemi and Aittovuori nature trail, and a geological formation called Death Pits.
